My dancer friend, my sister, my cute one

My dancer friend, my sister, my cute one

Don't spin on your fragile toes
Don't lift your arms with your banging inside head
Don't smile with your aching heart
My dancer friend, my sister, my cute one
Let's dance together in harmony

Just for my little sister in Perth... Imoto!

I hate her

I hate her

I don't know her
I hate her still
I hate her similarities
I hate her being me

Sudah lama tak kudengar kabar darimu

Sudah lama tak kudengar kabar darimu
Pangeran putih di arah timur
Kudengar namamu bergaung dari barat
Cerita sehari, bibir tersenyum, hati pedih
Kabarmu bukan fantasi bagiku
Ceritamu bukan pelepas dahaga
Setiap lagu dan suara
Bukan lagi milikmu saja

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee:
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Cinta dan Perkawinan Menurut Plato

Ok, here goes another interesting forward in my inbox. For you Indonesian or people who can understand Indonesian language, feel free to scroll down and find the meaning of love and marriage. Good luck!

"The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so
long to begin it." ~ Author Unknown

Terimalah cinta apa adanya."

Determined to be happy...

"I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may
be. For I have also learned from experience that the greater part of our
happiness, or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our
circumstances. We carry the seeds of the one or the other about with us in
our minds wherever we go."

~ Martha Washington

GAYA HIDUP ORANG-ORANG KAYA (A Reflection)

GAYA HIDUP ORANG-ORANG KAYA (A Reflection)

1. Orang-orang tersebut frugal = hemat, artinya:
mereka penuh pertimbangan dalam memanfaatkan uang mereka. Untuk beli sesuatu, pikir-pikir dulu sekitar 20 kali, tipe orang yang tanya sama Tuhan tentang segala sesuatu pengeluaran. Mereka tidak diperbudak mode, meskipun tidak kuno, tapi modis. Mereka tahu di mana beli barang bagus tapi murah.

Setelah ditanya apa kunci lolosnya, jawabannya: "overcoming worry and fear with The Bible and pray, with faith to God. We have God and His word."

They think differently from the crowd. Mereka "man of production" bukan "man of consumption."

6. Ketika ditanya kunci suksesnya:
c. Selalu mengembangkan social skill = cara bergaul, belajar getting along
with people, belajar leadership, menjual ide, mereka orang yang meng-upgrade
dirinya, tidak malas belajar.

7. Pembagian waktu/aktivitas, paling banyak untuk hal-hal berikut:
b. Banyak memikirkan tentang investment.
c. Banyak waktu berdoa, mencari hadirat Allah, belajar Firman. Ini menjadi
lifestyle mereka sejak muda.
d. Attending religious activities.
e. Sosializing with children and grand child, ngobrol.
f. Entertaining with friends, maksudnya bergaul, membina hubungan.

8. Have a strong religious faith, dan menurut mereka ini kunci sukses mereka.

9. Religious millionaire.

10. Ketika ditanya tentang siapa mentor mereka, jawabannya adalah Tuhan.

*Is it true?

To My Friends

To My Friends

If you should die
before me, ask if you
could bring a friend.

I want to live to be
a hundred minus one day,
so I never have to live

A real friend is one who walks in
when the rest of the world walks out.

Don't walk in front of me,
I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me,
I may not lead.
Walk beside me and
be my friend.

we'll be okay

If all my friends were to jump off a bridge,
I wouldn't jump with them,
I'd be at the bottom to catch them.

Everyone hears what you say.
Friends listen to what you say.
Best friends listen to what you don't say.

We all take different paths in life,
but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other everywhere.

A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart
and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.

Mau kuhapus saja

Mau kuhapus saja

Mau kuhapus saja semua memori indah itu
Kuhapus, kuhapus, kuhapus
Tiada jejak lagi yang tersisa
Untuk apa semua memori indah itu
Menyengat hati setiap kali
Memandang dengan mata berkaca
Tersenyum pahit karena tak teraba

Katanya kita udah merdeka yah?

Katanya kita udah merdeka yah?

17 Agustus. Another one. Second one am here, out of my beloved country. Katanya kita merdeka tanggal segitu. Bener yah? Instead, we work on our thesis/final project/creative project. And even blogging for Convergences unit. Hmmm... that sounds interesting. Well, bukannya kita ga cinta ama Indonesia, tapi semuanya jadi tanpa makna kalo kita ga berada di lingkungan RT sendiri. Yet I celebrate my own independence day. Minggu kemarin aku masak makanan Indo. Soto madura (daging sih, soalnya ada temen yang ga seberapa suka jeroan), gado-gado (cuma tahu goreng en kubis doang, lupa kalo punya telur, hihihi, maap ye), en nahhh ini nih: pisang goreng. Nyoba-nyoba pake resep dari internet.
http://www.dunia-ibu.org/html/pisang_goreng_saus_coklat.html
Tapi aku ga bikin saus coklatnya. Males. Sisa adonan tepungnya dibikin kue ama Madoka, anak Jepang, housemateku. Ga seberapa enak sih. Rada anyep.

Wah, kok jadi ngelantur? Biasa, Dian emang begini. Ga bisa tidur sih. Pilek padahal.
Katanya sih. Tapi banyak juga cowo yang blogging diary-like tuh. Cobain buka http://www.angelfire.com/blog/hakunamatata/Life/

Oke deh. Sebelum terjadi "kecelakaan" dan blogku kehapus, aku publish dulu. Nites.

Digital Revolution

Digital Revolution

Now, Brian Shoesmith (my lecturer in Convergences) is really great. He is structured, and attended a lot of conferences. Yet, he thought the class would start at 4. That was not so great. He made some points in the lec today, that we're (or at least I am) revolutionally digitized. I can't escape from using the internet, Pocket PC, mobile phones, etc etc. Even checking the weather report involves digital devices, namely satellite and GPS. Yes. Digital revolution. Sounds cool, huh?

Corporate Capitalism & Convergent Communications vs Print Media

Blog 2: Corporate Capitalism and Convergent Communications vs Print Media
Project 1: Characteristics of the Digital Revolution
Barr’s “Forces for change: Communications as catalyst” (newmedia.com.au)

Urls:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/inside/merger/whyvotefor.html (Retrieved August 16, 2004)
http://news.com.com/2100-1001-272527.html?legacy=cnet (Retrieved August 16, 2004)

The first interesting point is corporate capitalism (mergers between big communication companies). I would like to take an example of Hewlett Packard (HP) and Compaq who have recently merged. They claimed that they would make “the combined company a much stronger competitor”. In http://news.com.com/2100-1001-272527.html?legacy=cnet, it is said that “The idea behind the deal is that combining the two tech giants will put them in a powerhouse position in almost all facets of the computer market, allowing them to ride out shrinking sales and an economic slowdown. The companies are hoping that combining their market shares will help them flatten competitors such as Dell Computer, which has surged to the top of the PC market”. However, there are some contras. Goldman Sachs analyst Laura Conigliaro stated in the same web link that there would be “immense execution issues that will only be addressed over a multiyear period”. Compaq has undertaken an acquisition of Digital Equipment in 1998 so that makes it eligible to have such a merger. Yet, HP had trouble managing itself, and the key is execution with the integration, as Neff pointed out.
The second point is that it is actually very ironical that the more developed we are (in terms of technology), we tend to forget about the people. “Telecommunication carriers are quasi-bureaucratic, technology-focused, [and] driven by an engineering ethos” (Barr, 2000, p. 27). On the other hand, print media tends to be more financially free-wheeling, with higher risk-taking, but more customer-focused (Barr, 2000, p. 27). Companies try to invent the highest technology ever, and inclined to forget the interpersonal relationship between human. It is true with the video-phone people enable people to look at somebody’s face in a far away place and converse with them, but people need time to come to terms with the new technology. In this case, print media are still needed to advertise the video-phone. I guess we would never cease from using the print media as a means of communication.

Kita hanya manusia yang ingin ditemukan
Kita hanya sebongkah perasaan yang ingin dihaluskan
Kita hanya semangkok darah yang ingin dididihkan
Kita hanya secuil daging yang ingin diempukkan

Kita hanya manusia yang ingin ditemukan.

Sometimes I Think

Sometimes I think “What am I doing here?”
Sometimes I wonder “Am I doing the right thing here?”
And then I carry on breathing, writing, eating, and typing…
And I feel better, better, better!

New platform

New platform!

Dunno what happened to my old blog. So I created a new one. Sickening, but yeah... see it from the bright side; "newness" is always appreciated although we have to adjust here and there. Yet a change is always a challenge, and the more you can handle it, the more satisfaction you can get. Meanwhile, my dear readers, am researching for my Convergences unit which include techy stuff (well, not really, since we examine parchment as a medium, sigh...). My script is not yet started, officially. Still deciding which style I should choose. Wish me luck!
